  • Population

    329,437

Lexington and Fayette County operate as a consolidated government, sharing the same boundaries.

In 1958, Lexington pioneered the nation’s first Urban Services Boundary (USB), which has played a major role in shaping the county’s development. While only about 30% of the county’s land lies within the USB, it houses approximately 97% of the population.

Lexington is surrounded by scenic horse farms and is home to the Kentucky Horse Park, The Red Mile, Keeneland racecourses, and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association headquarters.
